Spring 2020 Wrap-Up

Hi hi, back for another post.

Finally, Spring has ending, a pretty empty Summer is underway. Expect a pretty short post on that one next week. But today we are talking about Spring.

Let’s get this wrap-up on the road.

Arte

I am slightly disappointed with the show.

I was pretty hyped about this one, with the pretty lit casting and pretty inspiring story trailer. But it didn’t meet my expectations.

The talk about art and romance pretty much stops at episode 5 and it just deviates away from the main plot. This show is just blatant advertisement for the manga.

The voice acting were pretty decent. I really enjoyed Komatsu Mikako voicing Arte, she has been getting a wide array of side characters, her versatility is proven. But this character is a little bit on the mundane side so she couldn’t really bring out the charm of her voice completely.

But anyhow, the show is great on the surface, but extremely mundane for a slice-of-life in the later episodes.

Gleipnir

This show is pretty nice. I love it.

If you set aside the fanservice, the plot underneath that fanservice is actually pretty polished.

A little bummed with how the ending panned out, I was wishing for a better closure.

The voice cast is pretty darn great. I love it. HanaKana as an antagonist is always pretty darn amazing.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!

I don’t know why this show is worth watching.

The story was pretty worthwhile for the first 3 episodes. But it just fades off and just constantly going downhill.

The music is pretty nice, the voice acting a little questionable.

Really really bad show. Didn’t enjoy it at all.

Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2

This season really saved the entire show. First season was mediocre. They lacked the momentum but the story still managed to revitalize itself.

I thought I was wrong on hyping Iguchi Yuka, but I guess I was only half-wrong.

The comedy made sense now, the plot feels more refreshing. Animation quality is still a little questionable with how stark the characters look. They mostly look flat, they lack that depth and ambient occlusion.

But still, I love it now. I would be totally down for another season.

Scratch that, we are getting another

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

This season is an actual meme gold mine.

I would always be down for another season for sure. We need more, for sure.

For the frustration, for the stupidity and for Hayasaka.

LISTENERS

An overhyped failure.

This show needs 2 cours, especially with the setting and world being this massive.

The voice cast was lit, the 3 witches antagonists gets wiped WAY TOO SOON. This show is an over-condensed plot. Absolutely disappointing.

But I do appreciate the references.

Not a fan of Takahashi Rie voicing μ, the others sound definitely a lot better than the 2 main characters for sure.

I hope they don’t make another season.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta…

ANOTHER SEASON LETS GOOOOO

Probably one of my favourite shows this season. Uchida Maaya is really carrying this show hard. Versatility pushed to the max here.

I don’t think I need to write much here. You had a great time, I had a great time.

More great times ahead.

Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu!

I don’t get why this show is getting so much hate.

Its a really chill show, with a little bit of romance and fun. I like it. We need more of such shows since the market is flooded with isekais.

I love the character designs and voice casts. Music is decent.

I love this, and totally down for another season. I am playing the game as well.

Tamayomi

This show has its controversies with the animation quality, but I guess it’s because Funimation got the crap copy of the episode. But that aside.

This show managed to barely meet my expectations, the build up isn’t exactly great, but the climax managed to push the show back.

The voice cast is massive, but most of them did their job, not a big fan of certain voices.

Tsugu Tsugumomo

A pretty big disappointment. They had a lot of momentum from the first season. This season did deliver for the most part, but that ending is beyond questionable.

The abrupt ending really did wipe every momentum that the show had. Absolutely disappointed.

Yesterday wo Utatte

This show is a pretty controversial one. I mean… one big round to end up dating someone who rejected you twice really pisses me off.

I had a pretty lengthy rant about this show in my Anilist, but I’m not going to write any of that here.

I think this show did an amazing job in making me pissed over a romance show. As for the Extras, just watch it, don’t ask questions, just watch it. It’s only 5 mins max, and only 6 of them.

It’s a great show, nothing much to complain. (except for Rikuo’s stupidity.)

That’s it for me. The remaining shows will resume into the new season so I wrap them up next season. I feel like some shows that were postponed can actually make Summer a pretty nice season. But that somewhat ruined Spring.

But anyhow, can’t wait for those shows to resume. First impression post will come next week, will be a pretty short one, despite actually picking up a few more shows after my PTW post.

A week of delay but still the post will come out anyway.

I will see you guys then!
