This Season Feels SO SLOW: Spring 2020 3rd Impressions

Yo, I’m back…

After a week of anime grinding and stuff, I couldn’t finish any shows at all. BUT, seasonals still is a thing so that progressed really well. I decided to give up on marathoning Shugo Chara for Log Horizon instead, since 3rd season is coming soon. Currently almost done with Season 1, getting ready for season 2. I will write a review for the 2 seasons before season 3 comes.

Okay, I digress, back to the main topic, which is the already patchy season.

Big fan, very big fan.

This is my recommended show this season. The story didn’t take much risks, which isn’t a bad thing, since it didn’t need to. The romance is starting to bloom, the pacing is just right. This is probably the Goldilocks of the season. Everything is just right.

OP was nice, ED was okay, cast list just couldn’t get any better. I really recommend romance seekers to watch this. This show might not be AOTS, but its a show worth watching.

Gal to Kouryuu

This show is messy, but its the good kind of messy. There is no end goal for this show, there is no actual storyline. I like this.

The chill slice-of-life with a little mixture of weird fantasy stuff really brings out some decent comedy. This show isn’t going to be enjoyable for everyone, but at least so far the show didn’t take much risks to try and make a breakthrough.

The live-action mixture to the anime content is a nice touch, I love it. This is a good anti-depressant during this quarantine.

So far this show has been pretty lit. The plot twists were great, the drama is starting to pop.

I like this show. I’m not going to drop this show, 4 episodes in and the buildup is pretty nice. The cast is lit, the story keeps getting better. I am going to finish this show.

I did say I didn’t really enjoy the show like I expected due to Darwin’s Game last season, I might just rewatch this show when the blurays come out just to fully understand the show.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!

This show is slow, but I don’t actually hate this, for some reason. It had potential and momentum, but everything was just lost after last week.

The isekai genre is really starting to bland at a quick pace that I think the only credible ones are the sequels for existing “good” isekais.

This show needs to take more risks in their plot. It has been going with the flow, but it is slowly going down the wrong path. I think they are going to throw in the harem just to make the show entertaining. But with 2 generic genres in the mix, it will just make things worse.

I think I will just keep watching this, I am not expecting this show to get any better but for some reason I don’t hate it.

Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2

I have been saying, this season really saved the whole series.

I don’t think I need to say more, I am finally able to enjoy the show thoroughly now so I will just keep it at that.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

This season is an actual meme gold mine. Meme of the latest episodes literally pops out into my Twitter timeline in a matter of 6 hours.

That aside, I don’t think I need to elaborate more on the show, so far so good, I personally think that the latest episode (EP3) is probably the best one by far. The whole episode is a literal gold mine for memes and the Miyuki just dominates pretty much the entire episode.

This is going to be an extremely wonderful season for this one.

If you haven’t watch it, what are you doing?

Kitsutsuki Tantei Dokoro

I think my bet on this one is a dud. I guess historical shows isn’t bulletproof.

The mystery aspect of the show has been an actual weakness here, it lacks the suspense, it lacks substance and depth. Which made the whole show a bland one.

I think I will drop it, so I can have more time in the weekdays to finish my completed shows so I can push out more content on the blog instead.

This show is another miss for me. The extremely stacked cast didn’t give this show any justice.

I personally find the first episode’s world building to be way too tight and condensed, so it still lacked context in a lot of aspects. The pacing is also fast, or in fact, too fast. That gave the story a very shallow feel.

This story needs a massive repair job which I think is probably impossible at this point. BUT, I’m not dropping this because there are moments where the characters were lovable enough to make me stay.

Nami yo Kiitekure

I will drop this one.

The focus on the girl is too much, the monologues feels like the whole show is just a narration piece and the girls voice, despite the rather odd versatility, is really hard for me to sit down and listen for less than half of the episode. She has that weird rough, husky voice that deters me.

The artstyle isn’t my thing as well for some reason. So yeah, I need to save myself here.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta…

This show is literally the perfect all-rounder.

The story hasn’t shown a single flaw, the momentum keeps on building up, Uchida Maaya’s versatility completely utilized to its maximum potential. I don’t think this show is going to fail any time soon, or at all.

Every week I have been constantly waiting for new episodes. Never gonna drop this gem.

Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu!

This show isn’t THAT bad, it has some cheap thrills and comedy that I actually kind of wanted for a long time. With a pretty lit cast list, the show looked rather promising.

The show does need to pull off some risks to gain more interest as the show has been rather conservative.

I don’t think I will drop this one, I am actually having fun watching the show.

This show went from hero to zero so quick that I am actually mindblown.

For this one, I really recommend people to watch the AT-X version over the Funimation one since apparently Funi got hold of an old copy of the episode, and it just brings the entire show’s reputation down the drain.

AT-X one looks a lot more polished and a lot of the weird action scenes were somewhat replaced by CGI. It is still rough around the edges, but overall a lot more bearable than the Funi version.

Back to about the show, 4 episodes in and we are finally in their first game, which is good, since I am about to get pretty darn bored about them constantly introducing girls for the past 3 episodes.

Now that they finished their first game, I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Tsugu Tsugumomo

This season seems less of a fanservice mess, and more story and character development. Which is good since the first season didn’t really bring a lot onto the plate.

Just gonna keep watching since they are finally going to bring more developments.

Yesterday wo Utatte

This show is confirmed for 18 episodes, odd number. But I think with that number, they are going to complete the entire manga, since its only 11 volumes. But the format is even weirder where the first 12 episodes will be on TV, with the final 6 episodes only available online.

The story is slow and chill, but it has brought forward a lot of critical developments and executed pretty nicely. I am not dropping this, I can sense that this show is going to be a romance mess that I have been addicted for a long time.

As for Extra, I really recommend you guys to watch it. It may be short episodes, but I feel like they are using this platform to bring context to their main episodes so things won’t look very condensed, and it is effective at doing that. I would say so far, episode 2 of Extra is probably the most important as it brought a lot of context between Rikuo and Shinakos’ relationship back in high school.

But I guess this complicated format of airing for this show kind of delayed Teibou Nisshi’s production which got delayed indefinitely. But this complicated format of airing this show does indicate the dedication of Dogakobo and probably how epic the production for this show is going to be.

I am never going to drop this show ever, I love coming-of-age slice-of-lives. It is not AOTS material, but it is a show I highly recommend to get your mind away from this quarantine mess and the constant amount of adventure animes.

So that’s it for this post, dropped a couple of shows to make room for myself to breathe and also to watch more completed shows to bring more content to blog. I don’t have much posts planned for now, so I will try and complete shows as quickly as I can.

So I will see you guys whenever I can finally sit down to write more.
