This Season Is Gone: Spring 2020 2nd Impressions

Hi hi, this season is pretty much gone, isn’t it.

At this point I have 6 shows that have been affected, which means I am only down to 14 shows. I did pick up a few to alleviate the ones that are postponed but I guess it never ends. My weekdays are extremely quiet while weekends can take a day just to finish watching seasonals.

Will I keep writing seasonals? I feel a little unmotivated at this point but I will keep writing. I will not write any shows that have been postponed to shorten the post and save them for future posts instead.

So without further ado, lets get this post done.

Judging from how much I have been spamming Arte on this post and Twitter, I am absolutely in love with this show. For the comedy, the brewing romance and the odd society.

Every week I am just waiting for new episodes to come as I am intrigued with the adventures that are coming.

I will never drop this show for any reason. Its way too enjoyable to watch. It has a lot of shoujo traits that I love, despite this show being seinen. Komatsu Mikako’s voice for Arte is just great.

Gal to Kyouryuu

This show is a good show to sit back, relax and ignore reality.

A lot of BS with a good mixture of IRL and anime. I love this show. Not dropping.

I don’t know what to make of this show.

I feel like watching Darwin’s Game last season and then this show coming straight after made me unable to enjoy this show to the fullest. I prefer watching such shows in alternate.

The show is great so far. But I guess I need to rewatch in the future to fully understand and enjoy the show.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!

This show has been extremely uninspiring so far. It did had some momentum during the 2nd episode, but now I feel like we are in for another Kenja no Mago, but at least Kenja no Mago was better in bringing in some developments.

This show is pretty slow, and I sense no buildup so far, I don’t know what to expect. Hopefully there is some plot twist soon, otherwise I might drop this one. Will get ready my verdict next week.

Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2

This should have been the first season, and damn I am enjoying this season A LOT.

3 episodes in and the developments are nicely in place. I don’t think I will drop this, unless they dropped the ball next episode. But with the momentum they are having, I think it’s hard for them to just drop the ball. But one thing about the animations is that they look rather stark. The character designs do distort from time to time and lighting looks extremely static.

If you watch a lot of shows in 2020, this show will be pretty low in the animation quality list. Not that I hate it, but it does feel a little low budget and basic.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

This is another favourite. The best part since this is a sequel, we jump straight into the fray of this never-ending love war.

Still cannot get used to the commentary, but at least its not as intrusive as last season. I feel like this season will be a whole lot more explosive than before.

The new OP is rather okay, but does have a weird catchy tune to it.

Kitsutsuki Tantei Dokoro

So far the mystery aspect has been failing me but I think this show needs more time to expand the world and build up the suspense.

I’m not enjoying this show but I am not hating this show either.

I will wait and see next week and decide whether to drop this or not.

This show is slightly overhyped.

I loved the villain voice actresses, but the show has been all over the place. Pacing is quick, I got lost mid episode. Music isn’t all that amazing as well.

The momentum they had on the first episode is just… gone.

Will decide next week if I want to drop this. The villains are pulling me into watching this show more but the rest of the show felt pretty mundane.

Nami yo Kiitekure

A lot of monologue, very little development.

The show’s pacing is a snail, judging from all the episodes so far.

Will make a decision next week.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta

This show is another contention for AOTS.

Funny as hell, Uchida Maaya’s voice versatility tested. A whole lot of possibilities with this girl. I really love this show.

Not gonna drop, the cast is lit, the music is lit, the setting is literally on fire. The momentum keeps building up in this show.

Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu!

So far this show has been entertaining me.

The capitalism with combat is a oddly nice twist. I don’t think I have anything to hate about this show. The characters are pretty lovable, the cast is stacked (not a big fan of Horie Shun though).

I don’t think I can drop this show.

The girls are more muscular than me. I am ashamed.

So far so good, but oddly slow as they are still introducing girls into the team. I wish they can speed up the pace a little bit and start playing for real.

Most probably won’t be dropping this one.

Tsugu Tsugumomo

This show has been rather okay, but definitely one of the weaker ones in the sequel squad.

Not dropping, it has its good moments.

Yesterday wo Utatte

Despite the slower pace, I personally find this show rather nice to watch.

The romance, the untold secrets, everything about this show is so IRL-esque that I wish this show could just break me with some sense of reality. This show isn’t exactly AOTS material, but it has a lot of potential to be an underdog.

I won’t drop this one. It’s way too nice to watch.

That’s all for this week’s seasonal post. It’s a really odd season, a lot of the new shows didn’t meet my expectations, a lot of sequels got delayed, some of the good new shows are also delayed. I feel like this season is pretty much dead, despite some strong showings from other shows.

I don’t have much posts planned so I guess I will taking a chill break. I will still be around in May since my lockdown just got extended to June 1st. Currently marathoning Shugo Chara, its a long show so it will take quite a bit of time to complete.

I will see you guys soon.
