Hi hi, oh look, another Symphogear post.
I am really in love with this show at this point and I watched it immediately after finishing the first season.
This is another 13 episode season.
I feel like this show is a little bit on the down side, compared to the previous season.
Despite the introduction of new girls into the mix, but the story as a whole felt rather under performing. The plot’s energy felt a lot less powerful than the previous season. The pacing is also rather slow as well.
The slightly dark undertone of the story is there, but it got heavily restricted for some reason.
The new girls are great, they bring a whole new dynamic into the show. The combats are nice and smooth. The buildup felt rather non-existent, but when the climax pan out, the buildup then finally made sense. It is a long dreary buildup, but I guess it’s part of the story.
Overall, I wouldn’t say I didn’t enjoy the story, as I have continued on to watch GX (which is a step up from this, more on that in a future post). But I wished this season would be a lot better since the new girls that joined in are pretty great. But as usual, not a big fan of that one-off last episode transformations.
This show came a year after the first season, 2013. And it is a HUGE improvement in a matter of a year.
The resolution looks crisp, character designs were slightly revised (I like how Chris got a boob buff). Nothing to really write about, as the rest looks as good as it is and Satelight chose to keep that consistency.
I feel like the songs are a letdown this season. The character songs are great, just not as great as I would hope for, and they don’t sound as memorable as the previous season.
The OP wasn’t as great as Synchrogazer but the ED was pretty darn lit.
Kind of disappointed as this show really circles around music but the fact that they sound inferior than the previous season really puzzles me.
The show’s cast has expanded massively. The addition of Hikasa Yoko, Nanjo Yoshino and Ai Kayano is great, especially the former two as both of them has professional singing experiences.
Sugita Tomokazu’s role as an antagonist is pretty darn amazing. Inoue Kikuko’s role is a breath of fresh air as well.
I don’t think there is anything to complain as I am pretty much going to keep praising the list.
Recommended? If you enjoyed the first season, then watch it, even if you are scared that you might not enjoy this season as much. For those who haven’t watch the first season, please watch that before this one, I don’t think I really need to tell you that.
That will be all from me from today. More Symphogear posts coming in the weekends, so stay tuned for that!
