Hi hi, oh boy. More posts? Yeap. I had a rather productive day yesterday. Watched a couple of movies that was in my plan-to-watch in a long time…
The movie literally an hour, but it was damn effective in using all of that 60mins.
The movie feels like there is a time gap between this movie and the first movie, so I got lost for a moment. But eventually, I managed to find my way and catch up with the show.
Unlike the first movie, this movie has no recaps, so its an hour of new content, so that’s great. As for the new content, the movie feels pretty nice. The story pacing is fast, but they managed to make the fast pacing pretty darn entertaining. The action kicks off right in the beginning with no time wasted.
But with that 1hr time limit and fast pacing, the plot condensation is pretty obvious and the depth is slightly affected. There are moments where I find things felt awkward. But despite that, the movie is managed to feel pretty solid and a big step up from a rather disappointing Movie 1. The fanservice also got a decent boost too, especially when fanservice is one of the main drivers of the series,
The movie is already building up for the climax since the beginning, but when the climax comes, it feels extremely short and a little weak, even though there was a decent amount of intense combat in the movie.
The ending was pretty well done, it is short, but the ending couldn’t have been any better.
Overall, it’s a pretty huge step up from Movie 1, despite the flaws. I absolutely loved it, especially since Lilith became the key character this time round. Lilith really lacked that main character moments in the main series and Movie 1. This movie really opened up quite a bit of Lilith’s backstory and history.
Seven Arcs Pictures are doing this again and I loved it. They spent a decent amount of effort and dedication in this series, this movie has to be their 2nd best looking one after Nanoha.
Combat scenes looks extremely well done, I suppose their homework on animating the Nanoha movies really paid off.
Character designs were pretty much retained and left untouched, which was great looking already.
The colors are also pretty nicely rendered with that slightly darker atmosphere that this show always had.
I have nothing much to nitpick, this is probably the best looking Trinity Seven media yet.
This is another step up compared to Movie 1. There are more character songs, and also better sounding character songs too. Personally I find the songs are pretty damn nicely donem even better than the songs in the main anime.
There isn’t much BGMs, most moments they play character songs which I guess is a budget saving thing? Even though it lacked BGMs, the greatness of the character songs pretty much redeemed everything.
ZAQ’s ending is also pretty darn solid.
Everyone is retained but with 2 new additional cast. Maeno Tomoaki voicing the new Demon Lord and Ito Shizuka voicing as Judecca.
I really loved everyone here, but I have one thing I want to point out. I don’t know if it was me or what, but I find Hara Yumi’s voice for Lilith being a little bit too gentle, too sweet? I don’t know.
Other than that, I don’t think I have anything to complain about the show.
Highly recommended if you watched the whole series so far. Do pay attention in the beginning as there isn’t much context and history prior to this story, so things may look a bit lost.
That’s all for me today. I did watch Bayonetta’s movie too so that will come in an uncertain date. I will not put your hopes up about the review coming anytime soon.
I will see you guys when I will see you!
