Hi hi! This is a special season because all my shows I picked up has shown their first episode on the first week of the season, so I can write this one early.
This season was very hype for me, Date A Live alone is enough to make me say its going to be splendid season.
So let’s get this post over with, it’s going to be a long one.
Date A Live III
Since I mentioned DAL, so I’mma start off with this. For this week, I will concentrate on the animation quality, as it has been a hot topic, since this show has changed studio twice.
Character designs looks slightly less consistent than how IMS managed to achieve back in S2, and it seems like they cranked up the saturation to compensate that. The character designer may be the same, but this time round it has some added J.C.Staff flavor into the mix and I don’t think I really like it.
J.C.Staff likes to overshapen their lines in their characters, and this is no exception. Not a really big fan of it. This show is more suitable to have finer lines or with added bloom.
Background characters looks very bad, but background scenery animations looks great. Can’t really comment on their 3DCGI yet, because the only 3D thing I seen is just Fraxinus in camo mode.
Natsumi’s fight scene is probably the highlight of the show, and they did an excellent job. But I think J.C.Staff has kind of overexerted themselves with the 2-3 shows per season routine. But overall, it looks pretty on par with the PV, if not, better. I doubt they will fix things from here so looks like I have to just bear with it.
AIC PLUS+ is still the winner here, but I cannot pinpoint on putting IMS or J.C 2nd place. But animation quality alone won’t make me drop the show.
3D Kanojo: Real Girl 2
So far things picked up where it ended last season. The Yuto confession really caught me off guard, because I thought it will come by the end of the season or even not happen at all
Things are pretty much flatlined from here and out, so I think we have to wait for future episodes.
I can’t drop this show.
5-Toubun no Hanayome
Another show I hyped big time and I’m glad that it has met my expectations. The seiyuus are on-point with their roles, but not a fan of Yoshitsugu.
So far this is like an introductory episode, so things are going to pick up from here, I really can’t wait for next week for more.
I love the character designs, they all look so lovable, cannot pick best girl here. Every girl here has their own redeeming qualities.
Game adaptation show, so putting my expectation a little low.
The combat scenes look great, the character designs looks great too. Silver Link doesn’t disappoint.
I still don’t really understand the premise of the show, so I need a few more episodes for it to sink in. Seiyuus looks okay too, and they sound fitting.
Domestic na Kanojo
This is one controvesial ass show, way more deeper than I expected.
The show goes full swing in under 10 mins and woohoo, it’s as spicy as ghost pepper.
Character designs looks great, and it’s starting to look like a Diomedea signature. Character voices really giving me a lot of weird ideas on my head.
I love such spicy forbidden romances, and also a love triangle, so I can’t wait for next week. Won’t drop this for sure, unless it really crosses the line too much to the point it disgusts me.
Girly Air Force
So basically, its a Strike Witches show, but with Arpeggio system-like of piloting and also in the current era.
But, so far things are looking great, I really cannot see how they will screw things up.
Character designs looks good, Lynn sounds pretty much her normal tsundere self, so yay. Looks like a perfect formula.
Was actually doubtful on Satelight’s ability of making a decent quality show, but looks like I was wrong.
This show lowkey makes me hyped about new Strike Witches show next season.
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen
This is an eye opener. Damn, A-1 should do more of such shows instead.
So, basically it’s like a diplomatic war, but just over something extremely trivial.
The character designs looks nicely done, dammit Kaguya can be waifu this season with those nice-looking crimson red eyes.
The chemistry between the two main humans are just… I don’t know what to say here, cute to watch or just funny to look at 2 dumbasses fighting over whoever flinches first.
Definitely can’t drop this, it’s too good to resist
Probably one of the cutest adventurer show out there so far.
4 mins in and I was like, WAIT IT’S OVER?!
Studio Gokumi really nailed it this time with the artstyle, it fits in with the theme so well. Namori’s designs never goes wrong.
The characters are all so lovable, this is a good show to clear the stress every week. And it airs on Sundays here so another plus.
Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka
Damn, this show has it’s dark moments. I like this show, the story goes maxed out right off the bat.
I really love how things goes here. More blood, more gore, more combat.
The fight scene already gave me an idea that this show is gonna look great. Character designs looks okay, but it suits the theme, even though I didn’t really like it.
Can’t wait for more.
Another game adaptation show, lower your expectation people. It’s not that bad. Technically this show is dystopian to us, a world with dropping number of otakus, the culture of Akihabara disappearing. Sounds like the end of the world for me.
Uchiyama Yumi as a militaristic Russian is so cute. Character designs looks good, boob physics is pretty obvious, what else can I ask for?
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari
The 45mins first episode pretty much gave the whole idea of the story away. Now we are watching a show filled with hate and vengence.
I initially thought this show is going to be another isekai, but with 4 males. I was wrong.
The nice twist with the false accusations and turning someone’s pure and warm heart to a cold one is just satisfying to watch. With 2 cours, I’m going to put my expectations high on this show.
I think I will laugh like a maniac watching this.
Ueno-san wa Bukiyou
This show is definitely not my type of humor.
It’s too forceful, the male character is actually retarded and there is too much shouting.
The characters are barely lovable. I think I might drop this one.
Virtual-san wa Miteiru
Pretty much a VRchat private lobby filled with virtualtubers.
The skits are pretty funny, they tried to look like everything is ad-libbed from the start to the end, which works, at least for me.
Lowkey enjoying this show even though I thought it’s going to be the laughing stock of the season, so no drop.
Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!
Why isn’t the FBI investigating this woman?
But yeah, this show is cute in it’s own way, but I got a feeling that this girl is destined to go to jail someday
The characters are lovable, even the potential criminal too. Character designs are great.
Dogakobo has invested a lot on keyframe animations since UzaMaid, and I love it. Everything looks so fluid, even the hair flows with the physics.
Definitely not dropping this one.
So that’s pretty much wraps up my first week. I really love this season because there are more shows airing during the weekdays for me. The previous 3 seasons have like 70% of my shows during the weekends, and also certain shows start after a week or two later.
This season helps keeping things consistent for me. I like it, I wish there are more seasons like this, so I can do better time management each week.
Next post will come in a few days. Gonna write Liz to Aoi Tori. I have Godzilla: The Planet Eater in my backlogs and I will try to watch the Pancreas movie by this week, because the cinema closed when I wanna watch it last week
See you guys soon!
