Hey hey, more end of the year posts here.
This year is a big year for seiyuus, a lot of newbies taking up more prominent roles, and many other senior seiyuus came back.
I will be making this one a pretty long one. Sorting from the newbies to the veterans, and also male and female. The newbies and veterans one only for the females.
Top 5 Female (Newbies)
5. Shimabukuro Miyuri (Ongaku Shoujo, Harukana Receive, Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san)
She was kind of in my list during Harukana Receive, but I’m officially a fan of her after Yuuna-san happened. She has a lot of roles already this year, I hope next year will be another great year for her.
4. Harada Sayaka (Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san, Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru)
She has my attention since 2017, with UQ Holder, Aho Girl and Urara Meirochou. But this year her roles were cute roles for me and she’s great. One of the more pleasant voices to listen to, especially when I need a lullaby.
3. Kaede Hondo (Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet, Irozuku Sekai no no Ashita Kara, Mahou Shoujo Site)
I noticed her since the game Battlegirl High School, and pretty much observed her ever since. But this year role in Irozuku and Mahou Shoujo Site got me. Her voice is just refreshing to listen to, I cannot get used to this type of bubbly.
2. Suzuki Aina (Mahou Shoujo Site, Release The Spyce)
Yeah, out of all the Aqours seiyuus, I like her. Her voice in Mahou Shoujo Site pretty much proved her versatility. I wish she gets more exposure and roles next year.
- Serizawa Yu (3D Kanojo, Mahou Shoujo Site, Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu)
Her versatility pretty much shown after watching 3D Kanojo then Isekai Maou. Mahou Shoujo Site also made her reach new heights. Next year should be another big year for her, like 3D Kanojo S2 already confirmed.
Waki Azumi (Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu, Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san): She is pleasant, but I think she did a lot better in 2017 in my opinion. Hopefully she gets better next year.
Watabe Sayumi (Koi wa Ameagari no You ni): Only one role, but she did a pretty great job at it already. Let’s see how 2019 will be.
Top 5 Females (Veterans)
5. Nazuka Kaori (My Hero Academia, Pop Team Epic)
The eternal beauty. I really love her voice. I have seen her in those more stronger roles, but after Strike Witches, my impression of her CHANGED drastically. Her voice as Tohru in Boku no Hero got me too, I really love it. Next year she is doing Grisaia: Phantom Trigger, I can’t wait.
4. Kitamura Eri (Ore ga Suki nano wa Imōto dakedo Imōto ja nai, Tachibanakan Triangle, Sunohara-sou no Kanririn-san)
Not really great roles, but she proved her versatility again. I guess my favourite role from her has to be Sunohara-sou. I wish she can do more feminine roles next year like in ImoImo.
3. Toyama Nao (Yuru Camp, Beatless, Yama no Susume S3, Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai, Irozuku Sekai no no Ashita Kara)
A lot of great roles from her. But I guess her best role has to be in Aobuta. It’s great, her bubbly side has returned. Can’t wait for the movie.
2. Hanazawa Kana (Hataraku Saibou, Beatless, Happy Sugar Life, Tokyo Ghoul:re)
Happy Sugar Life is definitely for me. The rest is just her normal voice, but her yandere side is fresh, really reminds me when she voiced Rize back in the first Tokyo Ghoul. I wonder what’s next for her, I wish she gets more sinister roles.
- Tomatsu Haruka (Darling at the Franxx, Sword Art Online: Alicization, Violet Evergarden)
Darling, for sure. It’s just too good. She knows how to work the chemistry well with anyone. I really wonder what’s next for her. JUST LOOK AT HER, SHE’S A GODDESSS.
Uchida Maaya (High School DxD Hero, Grand Blue, Slow Start, Takunomi, Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai): She is picking up pace this year, which is nice, I can’t wait for it.
Anzai Chika (Takunomi, Shichisei no Subaru, Grand Blue): Her voice in Takunomi got me to fall in love with her, but the rest of the year felt rather bland. She has always showed promise, let’s see how much of her versatility shows in 2019.
Kayano Ai (Sword Art Online: Alicization, Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet, Yagate Kimi ni Naru, Index III): Great roles this year, next year is going to be a better one for her so we’ll see.
Sakura Ayane (Boku no Hero Academia 3, Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet, Tokyo Ghoul:re, Alice or Alice, High School DxD Hero, Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san, Ramen Daisuki no Koizumi-san): She has A LOT of roles this year, but I think that her voice versatility is limited with her roles here. I really cannot feel the gyaru during Sunohara-sou, probably because Hajimete no Gal was too good.
Sato Rina (Index III, Sunohara-sou no Kanririn-san, Island): She’s making a comeback, it’s good to see. Can’t wait for more feminine roles, or even motherly roles from her
Top 5 Male
5. Ono Yuki (Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet, Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san, Conception)
His roles this year for harem lead is great. I like his versatility, definitely way better than Kaji Yuki or Matsuoka Yoshitsugu. I don’t mind if he becomes Harem King for 2019, if he keeps up the versatility.
4. Abe Atsushi (Index III, Fate/Extra, Dagashi Kashi S2)
He’s pretty great so far, I really love his voice as Touma, so he is in my list for sure.
3. Uchida Yuma (Tokyo Ghoul:re, Aobuta, Grand Blue, Pop Team Epic)
Grandblue definitely the best for me. He really needs more exposure, he’s too good at it. Well, he’s in Fruits Basket, so this is interesting.
2. Chiba Shoya (Cells at Work, Irozuku)
HE. NEEDS. MORE. EXPOSURE. His chemistry with Ishihara Kaori during Irozuku was pretty great, it’s one of the reasons why I chose not to drop the show, despite me having quite a lot of gripes on it.
- Okamoto Nobuhiko (Satsuriku no Tenshi, Index III, Mahou Shoujo Site, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, Shokugeki no Souma, Hataraku Saibou, Wotaku)
He has a lot of shows and he showed his abilities again. His voice can be sinister and nice at the same time. Can’t wait for more throat-scratching vocals.
Ono Daisuke (Hataraku Saibou, Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet): He needs to make a comeback, I love his charismatic voice.
Kamiya Hiroshi (Beatless, Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet): Another guy who needs to make a comeback too.
Nakamura Yuichi (Hataraku Saibou, Ramen Daisuki no Koizumi-san, Tokyo Ghoul:re, High School DxD Hero, Pop Team Epic): Ah, I miss the days when he was taking main roles.
So yeah, that is it for me, it’s a very big year for the seiyuus this year, I really can’t wait for next year, to see how things goes.
More posts are in the pipeline all the way into 2019 so stay tuned!
