I Like To Climb: Yama No Susume

I is very sorry.

Yeah sorry for the long break.

I was pretty damn busy with my Hong Kong trip that I didn’t really had time to sit down and properly write up drafts and stuff so the blog pretty much stagnated the whole week.

Yeap, the promised Hong Kong trip post will come eventually, there is quite a bit of material to sort out.

But now that I’m back, I will be writing quite a bit of stuff this week, I backlogged quite a bit of stuff.

So yeah, we talk about more questionably loli stuff.

We get a cour of S1, 2 cour of S2 and another cour for S3, with 4 OVAs in total. Manga origin and still ongoing.

Story Is Sweet As Sugar And Bitter Like Coffee.

The real charm of the story is that it really brings the struggles of a first time climber. It does bring the comedy and awkward moments here and there.

The story progression is rather smooth throughout the seasons. I have never seen such arc transition been so smooth. The story doesn’t bog down, it just keeps going. The pacing is pretty adequate for it’s plot.

The character development is also pretty well done. The chemistry between characters is pretty great too. Their interactions between one another were pretty solid. The side characters are not excluded too. All the characters are equally lovable.

The climaxes each season didn’t really had a great buildup, but the execution of the main plot is just awesome from the get-go.

The ending of S3 really made me really sad, I want to watch more Mount Fuji moments…

The only disappointing thing so far is S3 got cut down to a single cour again.

8-Bit Is Actually Doing A Great Job.

Just use Google Maps LUL

8-Bit is in charge of the production. Animations looked pretty simple, but it has it’s complex elements. Colors are on the bland side, but I guess it’s part of the art style. The emphasize on the background artworks more than the characters so the background tend to look more vivid.

Character designs are so on-point. I loved everyone in the show. Keyframes isn’t really a priority but they put a decent amount of it. Sharpness is also decent, it doesn’t look soft, and also not too rigid.

Music Is Pretty Relaxing.

Well Well…

The music fits the laid-back nature of the show.

The OPs and EDs that are sung by the main cast is also well composed too. I love it.

Voice Cast Couldn’t Be More Solid.

Mountain Cawfee.

The cast is pretty damn nice.

Iguchi Yuka, Asumi Kana, Hikasa Yoko, Ogura Yui, Toyama Nao, Makino Yui, Ogino Seiro, Gibu Yuko, Hisakawa Aya, Hayamizu Risa.

I couldn’t ask for more, their chemistry is great.

Ogura Yui’s voice always hit my soft spot.

Scores: S1 | S2 | S3

Story: 8/10 | 8.5/10 | 8/10

Art: 8.5/10

Music: 8/10

VAs: 9/10

If you watched Yuru Camp and you loved it, you will pretty much love this, the overall concept is pretty damn similar, just the setting and story that’s different.

If you haven’t watched Yuru Camp, I guess it’s time for you to have a change of pace because this type of story is great when you want to relax.

That’s it for me today. I will be writing more reviews in the coming days.
