Eh? She’s breaking up with me?
I replied the text by asking why. She said she’s moving to Japan because of her dad’s work. I asked for her flight details and she didn’t tell me.
I immediately out of my house and hailed for a taxi. Reached the airport, ran around like a lost kid.
Eventually I found her and her family, walking out of the check-in counters. I greeted her parents.
Me: “I… found you…” while panting.
Harumi: “I’m sorry… I should have told you sooner…”
Me: “May I talk to you… for a bit before you leave…?”
Harumi then asked her parents. They allowed us to talk, so we walked to a café. Sat down… and the atmosphere was intense…
Harumi: “Sorry I have to break up with you…”
Me: “I understand, but I’m willing to date you long distance… We can use that game, as a form to pulling in our distance.
Harumi: “It’s never going to work out…”
Me: “Who knows? I will work my way and eventually move over to you.”
Harumi: “I don’t know…”
Me: “Believe in me…”
Harumi: “Sorry… I really can’t. I really love you but it’s not going to work… I have to go…” She then gave me a final kiss and was walking away.
I stood up and hugged her from the back.
Me: “Please don’t break up with me… I really… have nothing left…”
Harumi: “Please don’t be like this… It’s impossible…”
Me: “I will fly to your place and visit you as much as I can…”
Harumi: “Don’t waste your money… You will find someone better, eventually. Forget about me please…” and she released my grip.
I stood there, looking down, then looked up and stare at her back till she disappeared from my sight.
I walked back home, looking down and feeling dead.
Mom: “I heard Harumi and her family has moved out… I assumed you rushed out to see her off at the airport…”
Me: “Yeah.”
Mom: “Are… you okay?”
Me: “I’m fine.” I turned around and smiled. “This is probably my life.” and went back to my room.
I went back to play that social VR game, with a different avatar. I joined a random lobby and sat alone, back to the good old days.
“Hi, long time no see…”
I looked up.
“Rei…mi?”
Reimi: “Yeap, that’s me. How have you been?”
Me: “Heh, me? Nothing much, had a relationship with a childhood friend and broke up because she moved out…”
Reimi: “Oh, I see.”
Me: “She didn’t believe in a long distance relationship…”
Reimi: “Not surprised, everyone don’t believe in a long distance relationship.”
I sighed.
Reimi: “But I’m willing to try it out.”
Me: “Huh?”
Reimi: “I’m willing to date you, long distance.”
Me: “No thanks, I’m not worth dating, and besides, you deserve someone better.”
Reimi: “I’m just pulling your leg, I understand you don’t want to date at the moment.”
Me: “Maybe never ever.”
Reimi: “Oh don’t be so negative.”
Me: “Let’s just be friends…”
Reimi: “Sure.”
Me: “I’m going to take a break.”
Reimi: “But you just got online.”
Me: “I want to rest…”
Reimi: “Okay, I will see you tomorrow?”
Me: “Yeah, hopefully I will feel better.”
Reimi: “I can help you get over it…”
Me: “I don’t know…”
Reimi: “You will get over it.”
Me: “We’ll see.” and I logged out.
I spent the night crying. Suffering in silence. Going to school was hell, all I get is people asking me about Harumi. I want to forget about her but they are totally not helping at all.
I quickly ran home after school, skipping lunch and logged into the game.
I roamed around different lobbies, talk to different people, until…
“Ah, found you!”
Me: “Ah… It’s you again.”
Reimi: “How are you today?”
Me: “Still the same I guess… All I get is school are questions asking me about my ex…”
Reimi: “I get how you feel…”
Me: “You have an ex?”
Reimi: “Yeah.”
Me: “I see…”
Reimi: “It was pleasant, but the ending wasn’t sweet.”
Me: “Breakups are bitter most of the time…”
Reimi: “I guess, but I got over it, you can get over it too. It may take awhile, but it’s possible.”
Me: “Maybe.”
Reimi: “Let’s play some games.”
Me: “Sure. What games?”
Reimi: “Let’s play some go-karting.”
Me: “Okay, it’s been awhile, so I will be pretty bad.”
Reimi: “Same here.”
We went on to play games, we had fun and played for over 3 hours.
Reimi: “Oh, it’s dinner time…”
Me: “Same for me too.”
Reimi: “Did you have fun?”
Me: “Yeah.”
Reimi: “That’s great, let’s play more often?”
Me: “Tomorrow is Saturday anyways, so yeah.”
Reimi: “See you then!”
Then I logged out.
“I wish… I could live a life… without emotions… or feelings…” and I took a sip of beer.
