Giving me goosebumps and making me feel disgusted about myself: Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! ~Take On Me~

Hello. After a break, calmed myself, felt great, back to writing reviews.

The sequel movie of the 2nd season. Was absolutely stoked about this. It was showing in the cinemas near me, so I went for it. Had a pleasant 2.5hr nap time at Starbucks before the movie so I’m attentive in the cinema. Movie is 98mins so it’s decent in length.

Story sorts of picks off from the 2nd season. Storyline is all comedy, near-zero seriousness. Pacing is pretty fast already at the start. Not much climax because then comedy pretty much overshadows the rest of the plot. Ending was pretty sweet. Rikka and Yuta is probably the most ridiculous yet romantic couple in anime. The romance is pretty sweet, but tends to be overshadowed by the comedy. Character development isn’t really much, but that’s not really the point of the movie.

Comedy is the key element that keeps you entertained and no kidding, the cinema is filled with REALLY LOUD laughter during gags. Well-timed and perfectly executed comedy. This movie didn’t really did a good job in destroying my sanity for rubbing salt at old wounds, but did a good job at turning me back into a Chuunibyou.

Animation by KyoAni. But it’s kind of disappointing. I was expecting like Koe no Katachi level of quality, but it stays faithful to the first 2 seasons. It’s great, don’t get me wrong, but Tamako Love Story had WAYYYY better quality than Tamako Market, and I was kind of expecting the same. If you like the first 2 season’s animation quality, then you will be satisfied. Maybe I’m just nitpicking.

Music is great. OP and ED were great. BGMs were nicely composed. I forgot the OST of the first 2 seasons so I can’t compare, but its nicely done.

VAs are all retained. Uchida Maaya and Fukuyama Jun’s chemistry is heavily enhanced, compared to the previous seasons.

Story: 8/10

Art: 7/10

Music: 8/10

VAs: 8/10

Highly recommended, especially if you are chuunibyou in the past and the present and also if you wanna be a Chuunibyou in the future too.
