The Coin Shooter S: To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S

Heyo. More Railgun.

Another 24eps.

Storyline moves on from when it ended on the first season. Another great season. It starts off with the Sister’s Arc which was way more in-depth than the Index’s version. Sister’s Arc eventually became one of the most intense and my favourite arc in a long time. Pacing was nearly perfect, utilizing 2 cours to do 2 arcs nicely. Character development excels this season. It literally made the first season’s development look stale. It’s just incredible, that this second season literally making it 2 times better than the first. Ending was decent. Now I want more. Overall, one of my favourite shows for a long time.

Animations by J.C.Staff. Animations gets an upscale. Colors looked more vivid than the first and they maintained the designs. Thank god.

Music is excellent. Same BGMs, but fripSide’s OPs were a whole lot better than the first season. I like it. EDs were a mixed bag.

Cast list is remained mostly the same, but with additional cast. Tsuda Minami, Nomizu Iori, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Asakura Momo, Sasaki Nozomi, Koshimizu Ami, Hayama Ikumi were added this season. It’s great, a massively great cast just got upsized.

Story: 9/10

Art: 8.5/10

Music: 9.5/10

VAs: 9.5/10

Highly recommended if you watched the first season, even if you don’t enjoy it.

  2. This sequel is set up so thematically perfect that it almost does make the first season look like child’s play. The development and finale of the Sister’s Arc in particular feels much more like a cinematic experience just because of how intense and high quality the writing (and gorgeous presentation) is/are. The inclusion of Academy City’s 4th rank Level 5 esper, Meltdowner, also made for some stunning fight sequences and epic dialogues.

A stunning show, one of my all time favorites for sure, and I do hope 2018’s “A Certain” project announces a third season, as the next arc—The Level 6 Shift Project—finally reaches it’s arguable peak…and the results are, from what little bit that I’ve read in the manga, are both horrific and exhilarating. Glad you also loved this show as much as I do!
