The Fate Series with a Twist?!: Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

As part of my MAL 300days milestone special, I will be doing an Illya review posts marathon, which means an Illya season each day. From the first to 3rei, for the next few days.

Manga origin. This show basically covers the first series of the manga. Anime ran for a pretty short 10 ep with an OVA.

Storyline starts off with a very awkward Illya as my memory of Illya being a kid with wonderfully bad ideas. But she became incredibly cute, naive and fun? Looks like thats how the story is, I have to live with that then. Introduction did take their time, took nearly half a season, but it was adequate. Judging from how lost I was with this new Illya, I need the intro. The show progresses pretty fast and turned pretty dark in no time. Comedy was pretty damn incredible and the character development was decent. Fanservice was controlled, well-timed and not very forceful, so it felt pretty pleasant. Climax was great. 10 eps don’t really felt that short, and it wraps up pretty nicely. Judging from this show directed by 3 men and written by 2 men, not surprised that the show is pretty well done. Overall, nice pleasant twist and this is how Illya should have grown up as.

The OVA is pretty much fanservice as usual, but its more loose, still pleasant though.

Animations by Silver Link. Character designs took me awhile to get used to, but once I get used to it, it’s actually pretty damn cute. Colors were vivid. Combat scenes were wonderful.

Music is decent. OP and ED were nice, BGMs were pretty nice too.

The voice cast pretty much maintained the same list as the original FSN and FZ, but with a few additional characters. Takano Naoko, Matsuki Miyu, Kato Emiri, Sato Satomi, Ito Kanae, Ise Mariya, Nazuka Kaori. Kaori voicing Miyu was a pretty good bet, and partnered with Matsuki Miyu, the both of them make a pretty calm but cute team. The Naoko and Miyu duo since Carnival Phantasm is back, kind of hyped, but they expressed themselves a lot more freely this time, probably because they have slightly major roles compared to Tsukihime.

Story: 8/10

Art: 8.5/10

Music: 8/10

VAs: 8/10

Highly recommended, if you want to get away from the serious and dark tone of the Fate series.

2wei tomorrow!
