Slash and Clash: Samurai Deeper Kyo

Hey all, time for some dark shows this time.

Originated from a manga, spanned for 7 years in 38 volumes. Anime aired for 26 episodes.

The storyline is extremely dark. It’s unique in its own way, and this was my first historical-theme anime. The pacing of the anime is pretty smooth. 26 eps was well spent. The story was pretty action-packed even though the plot deviates from the manga. I usually hate animes that deviates plot from the manga, but this one is an exception. Ending was original, but it’s kind of well wrapped. It gives it’s kind of closure, just like Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii. Overall, I love it, probably the best historical themed show I watched so far.

Animations by Studio Deen. Its decent for a 2002 show. Colors were pretty nice, fitting the dark theme.

Music is decent. OP and ED were decent, BGMs were ok.

VAs is a pretty nice list. Konishi Katsuyuki, Horie Yui, Seki Toshihiko, Ogata Megumi, Ishida Akira, Hoshi Soichiro, Wakamoto Norio, Koyasu Takehito, Mitsuishi Kotono, Hayami Sho, Midorikawa Hikaru, Ueda Kana, Imai Asami, Sakurai Takehiro, Takahashi Mikako, Nogawa Sakura, Yukana. I love Horie Yui’s voice here, its so soothing.

Story: 7/10

Art: 7/10

Music: 7/10

VAs: 8/10

Recommended to watch, its a pretty good change of pace.
