This show isn’t exactly as depressing as it looks, but it was nice tho, it was sweet, it feels a bit like Tamako Market.
Anime original. 26eps with a 1-hour long movie. It feels very long for some reason.
Storyline is pretty nice. It was very lighthearted, this made the comedy even more enjoyable. It tends to go pretty cheesy, but it was extremely entertaining. Okada Mari on the script, no surprises. I was expecting this show to go heavy after the 2nd half but it was very underwhelming and ends up being lighthearted. The ending was pretty ok, but it wasn’t a proper wrap-up for me. As for the movie, it didn’t serve as a sequel but its timeline is somewhere in between the climax and the 2nd half’s beginning. It pretty much serves as a flashback and then slowly realization. Nothing much to write home about, especially its only an hour. Overall, it was a fun ride, but didn’t meet my expectations, especially when Okada Mari is writing this. Setting and plot was nice, but it needs to get heavy to actually hit the spot.
Animations by P.A.Works. It is absolutely stunning, its about the same as NagiAsu and way better than Shirobako, Kuromukuro and everything else they ever made. Background was exquisite, objects were drawn to near perfection, characters were also extremely smooth. The animations keeps getting better, the 1st half lacked a lot of frames in their CGI rendering but slowly it gets better, the movie was extremely smooth, the frames were like butter.Well done.
Probably this and NagiAsu drained all of their budget for the rest of their days, saved enough money for a new office and now they ran out of cash again, Kuromukuro proved how cheap it was. Character design is excellent too. I have never seen wavy semilong hair girls in a long time. But best girl is still Nako.
Music was… bad? Totally cannot feel any of their songs AT ALL. BGMs were well composed tho.
VAs was a nice list. Ito Kanae, Omigawa Chiaki, Toyosaki Aki, Tomatsu Haruka, Kimura Ryohei, Nanjo Yoshino, Suwabe Junichi, Tsunematsu Ayumi, Okitsu Kazuyuki, Honda Takako, Kotobuki Minako, Arai Satomi, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, Endo Aya, Hikasa Yoko, Kanemoto Hisako, Kaji Yuki, Noto Mamiko. Mamiko and Haruka’s voices here were surprising,I have never heard them voiced such roles before, so it felt fresh, so did the rest of the cast.
Story: 8/10 (TV), 7.5/10 (movie)
Recommended? Yeah. It was fine, but don’t expect a lot from this show.
