The real beginning: Fate/Prototype

Good afternoon~ Watched this one with Carnival Phantasm just now.

Its actually the “Prototype” of the current FSN, in other words the original idea. All the servants are male and a female lead gets a male Saber. Its just a 12minute OVA.

The storyline felt fresh and more engaging than the current FSN, it feels very promising and has lots of potential to actually be better than the current FSN. I love how the story goes, and the characters feels a lot better too. In fact, I want the creator to carry on this ver of FSN as I can tell that its actually deeper than it seems, it has a lot more depth than the current FSN and the romance will definitely be a lot better too. Overall, Im starting to lean to this side of the FSN universe than the current one. Its not that I will start to dislike the current FSN, but in fact, this has even more depth than our current UBW route. But one thing is, if this idea became the official FSN, I doubt it will have the same amount of comedy as our current FSN, this idea is leaning towards the serious side and they treat the Holy Grail a lot more seriously than the current one.

Animations by Lerche again. Character designs felt a lot similar to how Ufotable handles and they invested a lot of money just for this 12 mins. The combat scenes are somewhat comparable to Ufotable and quality just a bit below Ufotable. Lerche proves that they can actually do amazing things, but only with a decent amount of budget.

There is no OP or ED in this one, but the BGM feels spot on, it fits the atmosphere perfectly.

VAs is a pretty legit list. Sakurai Takehiro, Hanazawa Kana, Nakamura Yuuichi, Miyano Mamoru, Koyasu Takehito, Nakai Kazuya, Saito Chiwa, Toyosaki Aki, Ogata Megumi, Touichi Hiroki. This cast fits their roles excellently, which made this idea even more legit than the current FSN.

Story: 8.5/10

Art: 8.5/10

Music: 7/10

VAs: 9/10

Just watch this 12 minutes and feel it, its really that good.

  1. A male Saber makes sense given the character’s real identity. Making her female however guarantees that the makers sell a lot more figurines.
