Good evening~ Another one of my backlogs completed, this one is pretty quick, all done in one day.
Originated from a manga, lasted for 3 years in 5volumes. Anime lasted for 13 eps with 1 OVA.
Storyline is VERY dark, incredibly bloody and horrifically mindblowing. The show really brought out a lot of shit in just 13 eps. The plot already escalates just at the beginning, was caught off guard totally. Because usually you will expect an intro, but this is just something else. This show really tells a very negative story about the reality we live in, and it does changes your psychological mood, you will be pulled into the show to match the atmosphere. This show has an anime original ending which I thought it was underwhelming and pretty anti-climatic. The anime was adapted too early, the manga ending was so much better. This show has quite a lot of difference from the manga, because the manga was still premature when it was adapted. I rather watch a typical “read the manga” ending than this, its just doesnt make sense, it felt like I didnt watch the show at all. The ending wasnt as feely, but can tell that they were trying to make one. The OVA comes as reliever but it feel pretty nothing. Excessive nudity was in also, but can be overly used, definitely not for the sake of fanservice for sure. Bando might be the most sadistic and darkest character I ever seen so far, Lucy is 2nd.
Animations done by Arms. Nicely done gore and amputations. Overall quality was pretty splendid for a 2004 anime. The character designs were pretty well done too. I watched the Bluray ver, there wasnt any redraws but the resolution and aspect ratio was redone and expanded for modern use.
Music is totally different from typical shows. The OP was in Latin and is already incredibly dark. ED was the same. BGMs were well composed too.
VAs is a pretty nice list. Kobayashi Sanae, Suzuki Chihiro, Noto Mamiko, Matsuoka Yuki, Nakata Joji, Kawakami Tomoko, Nabatame Hitomi. All of them well done, matching their characters perfectly.
Score:
Story: 8/10
Art: 8.5/10
Music: 8/10
VAs: 8/10
Highly recommended. This show leads me to watch Gokukoku no Brynhildr, Blood-C and Blood+.
Watching Gokukoku no Brynhildr, so far it doesnt feel as dark as this one, but still its not bad already.

It’s time for GrimmGirl’s Flashback Friday! This one comes from mirrorpurple and is a review on an anime that I’ve been told I need to start watching. You might be in the same boat as me and haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet so here’s a great review to help you make the jump! If there’s one thing you can always count on over a mirrorpurple is Rayz honest opinion on a show! So take a step back to Feb. 2, 2016 and read Rayz work 😀

This show and Serial Experiment Lain are the only anime I can’t get through because of the way they screw with my mind.

I liked the anime, although I agree the finale was very wishy washy.
