Everything Must Come to an End: Anime 2015 Massive Wrap Up

Good evening! 2015 is ending pretty soon, i decided to write out a new post before 2016 happens, this is gonna be pretty lengthy, and hopefully epic.

Lets start with the good ones first.

Most Mindblowing

Gakkou Gurashi

Have to admit, this one hands down. Just when you thought that this show is going to be all fun and games and also slice-of-life-ish, you just get smacked with harsh reality. I was glad i didnt read the manga or even bother to read the summary of this show’s plot. This show already blew me away with the first ep. I major disappointment is their way to censor the zombies, its “unique”, but it reminds me of Tokyo Ghoul already…

Grisaia series

I thought they butchered this, but their original elements did made me feel like this series just gotten even epic. I take back all my criticisms.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni Shitai ga Umatteiru

Its an equation. You put Black Jack and add Conan and you get this, but a female instead. Well done this show, its really epic for me.

Most Action-packed
This one will definitely have a few in my list…

One Punch Man

Hands down, have to be in the list, never seen such simple yet dramatic and quality combat scenes in years.

Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry

Legit combat scenes, with lots of character development combined. Romance also included pretty nicely.

Aldnoah Zero 2nd

They somewhat improved what they missed during the first, i have always love Mecha vs Mecha fights, so this have to be in the list.

Most Lighthearted

Dog Days”

Hands down, i have always love this series for being able to combine its lightheartedness with magical combat.

Miss Monochrome 2 & 3

Must add, i love how she always carry on with her journey to stardom. Always turn my frown upside down.

Another one which can combine lightheartedness with combat, but this one is slightly better due to its better way of doing gags.

Most Heartwarming

Ore Monogatari!

Definitely this. It gives all ugly people in this world a lot of hope. Cheesy elements keeps making me feel warm and fuzzy.

Koufuku Graffiti

Food, food, food. And the importance of eating with someone. Its really meaningful… Seeing them eat will cause of flood in my room. The character design is damn spot-on and when they eat together, it just feels warm and say “Awwww”…

Hibike! Euphonium

Ahh, orchestral music, and the harsh back story, its just nice. Their journey does make people feel that sense of teamwork and its just very heartwarming to see it.

Most Comedic/Doesnt Even Make Sense

Himouto! Umaru-chan

Hands down, this one really cracks me up A LOT, i nearly died, honestly. I really want more of this. Never fail to entertain my week.

Another hands down, you know the reason, dont need me to say anything. Souta best trap so far…

Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou

It doesnt even make sense, everything they do, its just…. nonsense.

Most Moe

Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??

Syaro, thats all. Yeah. Really.

Most Loli

Short but nice, bring the naive spirit from loli girls into its 50% potential. Yup, its not perfect.

Most Yuri

Yuri Kuma Arashi

The yuri levels is comparable to Sakura Trick, i love it, and the bears are so cuddly. The whole world is filled with just girls and yuri, omg, Paradise.

Most Guilty Pleasure

Okusama ga Seitoukaichou

Omg, this is so much better than all the “cough” shows, its unique and dayum, its getting hot here… *wipes*

Most Feely

A bit rushed but its pretty well done, Maeda Jun’s magic, hopefully Rewrite gets a good one also.

Most Educational

Young Black Jack

As i said before, Im a medic and my old love for Black Jack made me watched this. I learned quite a bit.

I think this pretty wraps up the good part, now its about the down side of life.

Worst execution

Good concept, but the way they execute it is might as well make a MMORPG out of it instead, and it felt too damn short. This anime made my Spring season pass by damn quick, thanks to its touch-and-go way of storyline.

Owari no Seraph

Both of them, had great potential, but was pretty much ruined for its cutting corner ways of adapting it. Backgrounds were horribly drawn but the combat scenes were fine. Even tho i dont mind a third season, but hopefully they learn their lessons.

Sore ga Seiyuu!

Nice setting and plot, but its just too boring. Shirobako did a better job doing this theme instead. The art took me forever to get used to.

Great potential, but just disappointing

Gunslinger Stratos

You cant really blame this, its original material inside out, adapted from a game. But they could have made a better way to tell a story. Its damn confusing, even until i finished the show, i still dont see the point. Combat scenes could have been better, honestly, A-1 has potential.

Kyoukai no Rinne

Cliched gags and lackluster combat and action, simple as that. But will still watch the next season.

I was hyping hard before this aired, but i think i expected a bit too much. Horrible animations and a boring slice-of-life execution kills it all.

Most disappointing

Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata

Just like its title, its boring af, the harem is just… dense af. Cannot handle the MC AT ALL. Wasted a lot of time watching this.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei Herz!

Was hyping a lot, but was disappointed, fanservice everywhere, then suddenly turned the storyline so suddenly with a bit of combat to wrap up the season, so rushed. Hopefully 3rei gets a better job.

Tokyo Ghoul  √A

Just horrible, worst than the first season, from the OP to the storyline. OMG, i never facepalmed so many times in my entire life. If :re ever gets adapted, quit Pierrot and find Madhouse instead, seriously.

Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu

Horribly adapted, lackluster artworks to stagnant storyline, the comedy doesnt even do much work, Satelight was a horrible choice since the beginning.

High School DxD BorN

Shitty storyline, even the “plots” doesnt even entertain me anymore. The entire show just gives me goosebumps.

Hello!! Kiniro Mosaic

The essence of the first season is just…gone. It felt pretty forced, the way the storyline goes and the comedy.

Gakuen Toshi Asterisk

Also hyped a lot, but if you compared it with Rakudai, you definitely choose the latter. This may have better character designs, but lack of character development, romance, slow storyline and poorly animated combat pulls down every single score in the sheet. They took the 2 cours timing for granted.

Seiken Tsukai no World Break

Horrible character design, horrible combat scenes, slow and boring storyline, its almost identical with Blade Dance, maybe worse.

Heavy Object

I CANNOT FEEL THIS SHOW AT ALL, dropped after 4 eps. I really dont get the rationale sometimes.

Absolute Duo

10eps was more than enough time already, and this show justs keeps going downhill every ep…

Juuou Mujin no Fafnir

May have pretty nice VAs cast, but the storyline is really damn confusing for me to comprehend and it just goes totally generic on me.

Rolling Girls

Dont get the storyline AT ALL, i dont see the point most of the time.

Classroom Crisis

Great potential, but wtf are they actually doing, lots of questions raised for their actions and their rationale. The show really took my soul away just to understand it.

I didnt include some shows, the movies and OVAs because of length, resources and time constraints. This post took me more than half a day to write already, it will take me 2-3 days to write and will take you a day to read if i include them altogether.

Overall, this year is pretty much on the downside for me, the amount of anime that got wasted and butchered is A LOT more than expected, compared to 2014, dont even compare with 2012 or 2013. I hyped a lot of shows that are horrible, compared to previous years. Not sure its my instincts going rusty or just pure bad luck.
Hopefully 2016 is going to be a good year, but i doubt so already, because my picks for Winter is very little, i will tell you guys about it tomorrow.

  1. NS giving you lots of free time huh tsk tsk. I am jealous of the amount you watched lol.

Having said that …. 2015 is really quite a bad year compared to the past years. Its making me sort of lose hope in new anime in general >< lots of people hate Charlotte, but I don't think its THAT bad.

  3. Gosh, you people watch too much >.<
Anime that disappointed me this year were Seraph (season one, yet to see two), DanMachi, Tokyo Ghoul Root A, and Aldnoah Two to some extent, kinda not really it wasn't bad . . . I didn't even hop in on Kaleid liner this time around because I'm sick of the fan service, which is disappointing considering I'm a huge Fate fan. I'm watching Charlotte for some reason and lord, I have no idea where it's going. Send help.

  4. Man, you sure had a lot to watch through this year! Have to agree with Saekano, it wasn’t the worst and it had some moments of humor, but overall was a pretty ‘meh’ work and some of the girls were just okay?
